Fun Fungi

In the yard and in the woods there is an impressive variety of fungi popping up. Some have bright colors, most have interesting textures, and some small critters seem to think they are tasty. Here is a sampling from a walk a couple of days ago.

Sunday morning we went to Fort Williams in Cape Elizabeth, Maine, for an art show. When we got there, the fog was thick and the ocean was nearly invisible from about fifty yards away. Portland Head Light was a ghostly outline, but I can see little spiders on many of the rocks in the black and white photo. It was interesting to walk the same path again after the fog cleared.

Yoga

I've been wanting to create a series of photographs of people practicing yoga. A few weeks ago I ran into my friend Jessica who was headed to her yoga class. We arranged a photo session, and these are some of the images resulting from our first collaboration. We'll be doing some outside next week, if the weather cooperates.

Prescott Park flowers

Summer flowers

The last few day lilies of the season are blooming, the hydrangeas are doing great, and a summer squash plant looks tropical with its huge leaves and blossoms. I can't imagine what it would be like if we got some rain!

Northwood Meadows State Park

Sunday we took a five mile or so hike in Northwood Meadows State Park. There aren't any mountain vistas, but there is a pond, some swamps, and one trail that crosses some very nice farm fields. The deerflies are plentiful and relentless, so this might be a good fall or winter hike!
