Portsmouth stroll

Yesterday was such a nice day, we decided to go walk around in Portsmouth. We explored an area of the waterfront just south of Peirce Island, where we had never walked before. The side streets are lined with elegant little homes and nicely landscaped yards containing many flowering spring perennials, trees, and shrubs. It was nice to see some of the scenery that most tourists, and probably a lot of locals, don't know about.

Fort Stark

Last week when the weather was nice I wandered around Fort Stark for a while. I love to see how the ocean arranges the stones along the shore. There are so many interesting little landscapes. It's fun to walk around the clusters of stones to see them lit from different angles. These are a few photos from that little excursion.

The Clancy Legacy

Aoife Clancy and Robbie O'Connell performed wonderful Irish tunes at the Elysium Arts Folk Club in Rollinsford on January 16. Many in attendance joined in singing the choruses to some of the songs, while some of us were quite content to just watch and listen!

Traditions

One of our family's Christmas Day traditions is to take a walk together. Some years the weather isn't conducive to doing that, but this past Christmas was a perfect day for a hike in the woods. These are a few images from our walk.

Lissa Schneckenburger at Elysium Arts Folk Club

Nearly a year ago we saw Lissa Schneckenburger for the first time at Elysium Arts Folk Club in Rollinsford, NH. She returned last Friday, and, happily, we were able to see her perform again. She is an amazing fiddler and singer. We'll undoubtedly go to see her again the next time she plays at Elysium.

Malinky

On September 30, we joined a room full of music fans enjoying the Scottish folk musicians Malinky, at Elysium Arts Folk Club in Rollinsford. Many in the crowd had seen them before. We hadn't, but we'll certainly see them again when they return.

Jonathan Edwards at Prescott Park

I first saw Jonathan Edwards perform when I was in college, more than thirty-five years ago (yikes). I've seen him several times since then, most recently at Prescott Park last evening. His voice is as strong and clear now as it was when he was in his twenties, and he is an engaging and entertaining performer.
