Dan Walker at the Elysium Arts Folk Club

Project M

Monday night we went to see Project M, which is a quartet of bass players, with a style of music I didn't know existed. If you ever have the opportunity to see and hear the group or any of its members, don't miss it. The group consists of Michael Manring, Grant Stinnett, Jim Stinnett, and Rob Gourlay, with guest artists Everett Pendleton on guitar and Tom Arey on drums.

Exeter Town Hall Gallery

Last Sunday I was gallery sitting for a photo show at the Exeter Town Hall Gallery. I noticed some swirly shadows on the curtains, and when clouds blocked the sun the neighboring buildings became visible. On the other side of the gallery, the buildings on and behind Water Street looked rather interesting with the bright sun and dark clouds.

Burke and Surette

On January 31 we had the opportunity to see and hear some remarkable musicians, just downstairs from my studio, in the Elysium Arts Folk Club. Susie Burke, David Surette, and Brooks Williams entertained a full house of music fans with their masterful playing and singing. These are a few images from the show. I've had the opportunity to photograph Alyssa annually at dance school since she was just a kid. Now she teaches and dances professionally, and still comes to my studio from time to time to create some fun images for her portfolio. Here are a few from our most recent session.

More Snow

Snowstorms can be a challenge, but the next day is often so beautiful. Here are a few images from my neighborhood in NH, and from the Arnold Arboretum in Jamaica Plain, MA.

Icy River

Every day the view outside my studio windows changes. The river rises and falls, foliage comes and goes, some days are foggy, some are clear. This morning, after a frigid night, the river is flowing around ice formations covered with snow, and a flock of ducks who decided to forego a trip south frolics in the water and rests on the ice. Very cold weather is predicted for the next few days, so it will be interesting to see how the scene changes as the river solidifies.
